The Importance of President Obama's Birth Certificate

Author: Jeffrey R. Camino

There is a great deal of controversy over whether President Obama has the credentials, per the U.S. Constitution, to hold the office of The President of the United States.  On April 27, 2011 (about halfway into his presidency) President Obama produced a Certificate of Live Birth that allegedly validates he was born in Hawaii.  Let's examine this very important issue further...

PEOPLE THAT SAY IT IS NOT IMPORTANT

Before I continue, I want to address people that say this is not an important issue, that it just distracts from more important issues, etc.

First, saying that it's a non-issue is demonstrating a complete ignorance about the intent of why that requirement was put into the United States Constitution in the first place.  Keep in mind, we're not talking about some random company policy, we are discussing the highest law in the land: the Constitution of the United States!  Further below I'll discuss why the forefathers included the requirements for the Office of the President, but suffice it to say if we start pushing aside the Constitution, then we are on a very slippery slope indeed.

Many people are claiming that this issue is diverting valuable time away from more important issues, and the President himself said this was becoming a "sideshow".  Frankly, that statement is ludicrous for three main reasons:

1. The only reason there is any attention on this issue at this point in time in the first place is because the President chose not to release the document a long time ago.  He spent over 2 million dollars in legal fees to avoid doing so.  Consequently, much more time, effort, and money has been put into not releasing the document than simply doing so.  That actually should cause any reasonable person to question why it was not released a long time ago.

2. It should not  take up that much time to ask a staff member (or Michelle) to get the document, have it scanned, then hold a 5 minute press conference about it!

3. If President Obama can spend hours on the golf course, basketball court, and fill out a "March Madness" basketball bracket on TV; then surely he can take a few minutes to address the American people and the constitutional requirements of the office he holds.  Saying this is diverting valuable time and that it's the "birthers" to blame is a lame argument by people that either do not see a much bigger issue at hand, or just want to bury their heads in the sand because they also sense there could be more to this than they want to admit.

AUTHENTICITY OF THE RECENTLY RELEASED DOCUMENT

Substantial questions remain about the authenticity of the birth certificate.  However, anyone that brings this up is immediately labeled as a "birther" that will never be satisfied.  I wonder what similar strategies were used when anyone objected to Hitler's tactics and policies?  Will the American people also let the facts of the matter be squashed because bringing up the issue results in persecution and ridicule?  I fear, for the most part, the answer to that is that most people will.

Though mostly ignored for the aforementioned reasons, experts are presenting compelling evidence suggesting the document is a forgery.  THIS LINK presents some videos that question the authenticity of the document.

In addition to the technical issues, other people point out that President Obama's father is listed to be from "Kenya, East Africa", yet Kenya was not an independent country until 1963 — 2 years after the date of the birth certificate.  Others point out his father's race is listed as "African", yet the term used in the early 60's, when the document was allegedly recorded, was actually "Negro".  They also claim that government agencies that tracked statistics had narrow guidelines of how to record that information so that statistics could be kept.

I am not an expert, so I don't know if perhaps Kenya would still have been a valid option to record on a birth certificate regardless of its official independence and whether or not his father could have been recorded as "African" since he actually was "African".  I would think other birth certificates could be examined and compared to see, though perhaps the odds of finding someone born in Hawaii with a father from Kenya, East Africa are very slim.

IS IT A MATTER OF RACE?

This is a good place to interject that this is not a matter of race!  If there were the same questions surrounding anyone — regardless of their color, race, gender, or religion — many people would want to know more.  In fact, though a much lesser issue in terms of the affairs of our nation, recall that President Clinton was under a lot of scrutiny for his affairs with Monica Lewinsky.  George W. Bush was sharply criticized for his behavior during his college years and President Nixon was forced to resign from office for engaging in unlawful behavior that had much less impact on his current presidency than does the issue about President Obama's birth certificate.

There is no doubt that Timothy McVeigh would get equal or more scrutiny if he were president and his policies and credentials were in question.  Indeed it's about a much more important matter: we are really exploring the beliefs, values, and political ideology held by the person holding the most powerful position in the United States and whether or not they are in line with the best interests of the United States!!!

Playing the "race card" about this issue is divisive and only diverts attention where it need not be.  The real attention should be about the Constitution of the United States, whether or not the person holding the highest office in the land is adhering to the law of the land, and the purpose that requirement for being President of the United States is there to begin with...

CONSTITUTIONAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE PRESIDENT

The founding fathers of the United States did a fantastic job drawing up our Constitution.  It took them a long time to do so as they carefully thought out, debated, and finally agreed to all that its comprised of.  They carefully added many important things: like establishing the three branches of government, wherein a system of "checks and balances" was put into our governmental system; establishing what congress may and may not do; creating the courts and their function; and ensuring U.S. citizens enjoy freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and so on.

Article II of the Constitution establishes the Office of the President and requirements thereof.  Therein we have the law that someone must be a natural born citizen, age 35, have lived in the U.S. for at least 14 years prior, and so on.

Why were those requirements included?  Were the founders just arbitrarily adding some meaningless law to the Constitution?  No, of course not!!!

So, then, what were they thinking?  It's quite clear if you logically think about it: they were recognizing that it would be in the best interest of the U.S. if they could reasonably ensure that the person holding the highest office in the land was absolutely loyal to the U.S.; thus, all of the beliefs, values, political ideology and consequent decisions that person made always had the best interest of the U.S. in mind.  Now whether or not the policies were always right, at least it could be reasonably assured the right intentions were there.

tmp.jpg

That is why it is an important issue.  If the President of the United States has had substantial influence from another nation's ideas or from a religion that is hateful and opposed to the religion that most of the citizens of the U.S. hold, then it is very important to know that.  In essence, it protects us from "enemies, both foreign and domestic", as it helps us avoid having someone that is really a "spy" of sorts making policy not in the best interest of the U.S.  During the campaign President Obama repeatedly said there would be "change", though the question that was not asked is, "Exactly what kind of change?"

WHERE HAS THE PRESS BEEN?

What makes that issue difficult to deal with is that the press is readily accepting the document, though we have to seriously question if the press is doing its job!!!  Why this issue was not investigated while President Obama was running for office rather than actually holding the office is astounding.  Where was the press when there was substantial ambiguity about the man running for President of the United States?

The question should be asked, "Why only now release this document that has been asked for time and time again?"  The mainstream press is not asking that very important question!!!  Was it not provided to make some point that we have no right to know or that it should not be a constitutional requirement?  I can't see either of those reasons settling well with most people.  It was either a blatant act of defiance, or there is another reason.  Frankly, I can not think of any good reason nor have I seen one proposed!

Another important consideration about this matter is this: why isn't the press wanting to know about the college papers President Obama wrote?  While not the "all knowing, all telling" indication of one's beliefs, values, and political ideology, I would think they could weigh into the matter at least some.  Put another way, why is President Obama hiding that information?  In fact, it's still ambiguous to me where President Obama went to school, what he was taught, who his friends are/were, what his friends and teachers have to say about him, etc.

Many employers require that one's work history be valid and ask for official college transcripts conditional to employment, and that is a very reasonable request.  Frankly, the "employers" (the American people via the press) did not do their due diligence concerning Barack Obama.  We really know very little about him.  He was ushered in on a popularity contest where speeches and other factors played a larger role than the substance behind the man.

Had the issue of the birth certificate and such been discussed prior to the presidential election, the American people could have, at that time, made the decision at the polls of whether or not it was an issue.  (Though arguably the founding fathers intended for it be a law, not something we vote on based on "popularity".)  We'll never know how it may have played out, because the press did not do its job and, therefore, the issue is still being dealt with now, after the election.

As for correcting the problem, to do so would require that the press essentially report on itself about how poor of a job it did, which is not likely to happen.  Also, many people in the mainstream media likely voted for President Obama, therefore they have further motives to ignore this issue.  Except for web sites like this, the issue will not likely get any attention.  If you dare to share this blog, then perhaps you can help.

Consequently, there is still a cloud of doubt about whether or not President Obama is actually legally holding the office of President of the United States.  Now, some people are quick (too quick) to say that it should be a non-issue and that anyone discussing the matter is doing so foolishly.  They mention that our economy is in trouble, we have conflicts going on around the world, and that there are otherwise many other issues to be addressed.  It's for exactly those reasons that this is an important issue!  As noted before, the founding fathers of the United States thought it was quite important!

WHY DID IT TAKE THIS LONG TO RELEASE THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE?

Had the document been released a long time ago, questions of whether or not it is legitimate would have long been dismissed or dealt with; but that is far from the case.  I won't rehash some of the points that reasonably question its legitimacy, but I think the main point is worth asking: what, then, was the motivation behind hiding this document for so long?  Why hide a document substantiating ones legal eligibility to be in office (and pay so much money to do so) only to eventually produce it?

Moreover, all too readily accepting a document that was produced years later and still has a lot of questions about its authenticity is foolish at best, and hints of not wanting to address the deeper issue at hand: who is the man holding the highest office in the nation, what are his values, what is his political ideology, and therefore what is his agenda?

Time will tell how this all plays out, though I'm not sure if it will ever be settled.  Should the Lord tarry, it could go down as one of the most unsolved conspiracy theories ever.  Who shot Kennedy, what happened at Roswell, did President Obama ever legally hold the office of President of the United States... ?

Now you may be asking, "What does this have to do with Bible prophecy?"  It could actually have a lot to do with that, as discussed in a previous article entitled, "Where Is President Obama Leading Us?".

An Easy Way to Remember the US Presidents

Author: Jimmy Cox

Every American should know the names of the Presidents. First we list the Presidents and find substitute words for their names. Beside each president write words of similar sound. The degree of similarity in sound is an individual matter. For the person who relies greatly on the aid of sound, the substituted word must be very like that of the word to be memorized.

Then we make up a little story which includes these substituted words in order. The story might run somewhat like this:

In Washington Adam was jeopardized by a mad monster. Adam and Jack ran to the bureau, but in their hurry they broke a tile or poked a tailor. They filmed more buildings, pierced by a cannon which was linked by John to a grand tree.

The haze over garden and field sheltered Arthur, who cleaved his way in a hurry. He cleaved mockingly as he cried: "A rose taffeta dress will hardly be the right thing in a college; but whoever desires rose veils may truly wear them?"

The underlined words mean:
Washington -- Washington
Adam -- Adams
jeopardized -- Jefferson
mad -- Madison
monster -- Monroe
Adam -- Adams
Jack -- Jackson
bureau -- Van Buren
hurry -- Harrison
tile -- Tyler
poked -- Polk
tailor -- Taylor
filmed more -- Fillmore
pierced -- Pierce
by a cannon -- Buchanan
linked -- Lincoln
John -- Johnson
grand -- Grant
haze -- Hayes
garden and field -- Garfield
Arthur -- Arthur
cleaved -- Cleveland
hurry -- Harrison
cleaved -- Cleveland
mockingly -- McKinley
rose -- Roosevelt
taffeta -- Taft
will -- Wilson
hardly -- Harding
college -- Coolidge
whoever -- Hoover
rose veils -- Roosevelt

Use this small story, and you will know the Presidents of the United States.

When we work out a story embodying these substitute words just as we did in the case of the states, except that in this instance we must use them in historical order.

He cleaved mockingly as he cried: "A rose taffeta dress will hardly be the right thing in a college; but whoever desires rose veils may truly wear them?

This story is somewhat harder to learn than the one about the states, because of its prescribed order. Nevertheless, one can learn this list without special effort in half an hour, while to learn the Presidents without such aid takes much longer.

Every American is expected to know not only the names of the Presidents in chronological order but also the dates of their terms. The latter, too, is considerably lightened by mnemonics, but before we attempt it we need further preparation. We will return to its solution in a later chapter.

The following interesting version of the list of Presidents was worked out by Mr. Edwin C. Silvey. It is excellent in that it avoids many connecting words. This series, a masterpiece in phonetics, is also easy to learn:

Washing done, a dame gave her son medicine. We know Washington Adams Jefferson Madison Monroe at times that son, a wine bum, had his son dial (telephone) her: Adams Jackson Van Buren Harrison Tyler broke; tell her fill my purse By cannon and gun Polk Taylor Fillmore Pearce Buchanan Lincoln John's son groaned to haze our field. Are they Johnson Grant Hayes Gaineld Arthur Gleeful and merry, son? Cleve and Mack when they rose felt Cleveland Harrison Cleveland McKinley Roosevelt
tough. Well, son, Hearty! College over. Who's fooled. Taft Wilson Harding Coolidge Hoover Roosevelt

Should a Woman be President?

Author: John Nilson

Nowadays, it seems to be quite natural that a woman should be and can potentially be a President, since she does not differ either mentally or morally from a great number of men which traditionally dominate in politics and social life. It is obvious that a woman is also a useful member of the political society. Moreover, some political and philosophical concepts and views of a female leadership are more stable, informative and logical. In fact, this is the result of the observations based on the real life activities and experience than on political data and doctrine.
Before speaking about modern facts, I should draw your attention to the fact that our history knows a large quantity of women, who became the leaders of their countries, reached the highest points in the political ladder. Here are just simple examples, taken from Wikipedia: Indira Gandy (1917-1984) - the Prime minister of India (1966-1977 and 1980-1984), Violeta Chamorro - the President of Nicaragua and all of Latin America, Maria Estella Martinez de Peron – the first woman President of Argentina (1974-1976), Margaret Thatcher – the first female Prime Minister of Great Britain (1979-1990), Waira Wike-Freiberg – the President of Latvia since 1999, Gloria Macapagal - the President of Philippines since 2001, Angela Merkel – the chancellor of Germany since 2005. And here is only a small list of names that are noted in history.
Speaking about present day situation, it is worthy of mention a very famous woman, Hillary Clinton. Ferrous character and will have not allowed her to lose any serious battle in her life, she has got used to hold a blow and not to incline under the load of problems. Hillary is a very ambitious woman. In the American political life, Hillary looks like a bright and outstanding figure. She has energetic, full of enthusiasm supporters and no less sharp adjusted opponents.
Speaking about her foreign policy, observers underline that Clinton started to promote her own position that is different from that of the current administration not by chance, and it is not because the rate of republicans falls down day by day. Not entirely right policy of republicans is the primary goal of her appearance on political arena. In most of her interviews, Hillary Clinton criticizes the foreign policy of George Bush in Iraq, Afghanistan, North Korea and Iran. As for Iraq, she supposes that the gradual withdrawal of the American troops is absolutely necessary. By the way, she underlines that the protection of human rights is in our interests just to move forward the freedom and principles of democracy. Moreover, she is sure that they should restore the relations between other countries (cited in The American Conservative, March27,2006)
She correctly describes the world we live in: development of terrorists network; growth of weapon supplies; situation in North Korea, openly testing rockets and nuclear weapon; active position of Iran, elaborative own nuclear potential; civil war in Iraq etc (The American Conservative, March27,2006). She earnestly underlines (Breitbart.com, Oct.31, 2006):
First, and most obviously, we must by word and deed renew
internationalism for a new century. We must value diplomacy
as well as a strong military. We should not hesitate to
engage in the world’s most difficult conflicts on a
diplomatic front.
That is why, agreeing with her policy, seventy percents of the American electors are ready to give their votes for the candidate of female sex on presidential elections of 2008, and 62 percents consider that a woman can govern America (cited in ABC News, Sept.27,2005). Geena Davis portrayed this question in ABC drama, saying:
I think we should just be talking about the person who is
the president, rather than their sex.
Greater part of electors has already determined with their sympathies and they are absolutely sure that democratic senator from the state New York Hillary Clinton, who has lived in the White house for eight years though in other status, must be on the post of the president. Others, traditionally voting for republicans, offer the Secretary of State Condolisa Rice as a candidate on the presidential arm-chair. But it is up to voters to decide as their general policy and leadership of these two female candidates are absolutely opposite, because Condolisa Rice is the main Bush’s sticker.
Comparing Hillary Clinton with other female leaders I should say that her political views and directions are respectively right. For example, one more woman, one more strong character – Margaret Thatcher. Certain political, ideological and moral options, which were conducted or aimed to conduct by Margaret Thatcher, and also her specific style of guidance – here are the key success of this woman. Here political philosophy is also interesting. Its base is made up by several elements. It is an apologetics of free enterprise and personal initiative. A direct financial benefit, desire to “arrange life as good as possible on your own and for the family” is one of the stimulus that Thatcher described. Being on the post of the Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher undertook energetic efforts on the reformation of the British economy and whole society. Many state companies were privatized with the purpose of increase of economy efficiency. In numerous conflicts, Thatcher showed herself as a decisive politician and a great leader of the state, involving all of soldiery and diplomatic possibilities, for renewal of sovereignty of Great Britain.
Thatcher deserved a nickname “iron lady” thanks to her decisive actions for the inflexible following of a selected course, in spite of verbal attacks and criticism.
But all in all, the common idea is that a woman-president will manage much better with problems in a social sphere, especially in health protection and educational system, than a man. Speaking about defense, no doubt a woman is trusted not greatly, but it does not mean that a woman gains no understanding in martial law. Anyway, sex or it is better to say gender does not matter in this case.
The picture of presidential elections points out a long train of womanish victories in different countries: Angel Merkel in Germany, Waira Wike-Freiberg in Latvia, Gloria Macapagal on Philippines. As the experience of the last years shows, women win quite often on the elections in the states, where authoritarian leaders governed for a long time or civil cold war took place, for example on Philippines, in Indonesia, Nicaragua, finally, in Chile and Liberia.
However, the womanish charm only is not enough for victory: a candidate for a presidency must have a successful career equally competing with men. All the listed names of female Presidents are those women, who have the common idea of governing their country. They mostly fight for reconstruction of relations between countries, normalizing of economic situation and of course, extermination of problems in the sphere of health care and education. That is why, hoping that a woman will smooth out contradictions in the society better than a man, people vote for a woman.
So summing everything said before and all the facts, I can say that this information gives a clear portrait of a modern woman leader of a country and proves that every highly educated woman having a goal and aspiration for reaching it can become a bright head of the state.
But there is still one more question: “Should a woman be a President?”. To my mind the concept of woman president is something speculative, going beyond the generally accepted rules and at the best subject to the theoretical and philosophical comprehension. Our society is still hardened in the patriarchal character. That is why this concept is examined as an exception and it sis often not mentioned in general.
According to objective tests of possibility, a woman does not have limitations for implementation of duties of a president. Moreover, some researches, conducted by scientists showed that in a number of cases a womanish paradigm of management, based on the non-hierarchical system, is lying on the ground before masculine. A woman generates more strong connections, comes from “life logic”, she has close connection with nature that is especially important at the beginning of the XXI century, when a question of planet survival sharply stands before us.
However, all these facts have never been taken into account, but the point is that considerably higher requirements were preferred to a woman at all levels of management. So, it is obvious that to reach a Presidency in any case, in any country and under different circumstances is quite difficult for any woman of the state.

Who's Running for President?

Author: Erin Kent Magee

On April 5th, 2011, I filed my Statement of Candidacy with the Federal Election Commission as the first Republican Presidential Candidate from the State of Florida.

Thereafter, I contacted editors of local and national media, announcing my Candidacy.  There were no acknowledgements.

I then opened a Facebook account.  I made my announcement and began making posts through the GOP portal.

Friends were surprised, and one even asked:  "When are you planning to go public?"

When all we hear in the media is how 'so and so' declared his or her candidacy, 'so and so' is as yet undeclared, and 'so and so' is ahead of 'so and so' in the polls, what are voters to think?  Naturally, they'll assume there are no other candidates.

What they don't know is:  The presumed lead of these candidates is based on paid advertising.  Through paid political announcements, these candidates manipulate the masses and give the impression that they are the 'major' candidates, if not the 'only candidates'.

How do the others contend with this media onlslaught?

I tried posting on Wikipedia under heading such as: Republican Presidential Candidates, 2012.  My posts were deleted with the comment:  "Please don't post information on an unnotable candidate on the same page with notable candidates".

Wikipedia then proceeded to allow a post from another Candidate; a wrestler from the state of Florida who claims to be a vampire.

I suddenly felt invisible.  I remembered what Lilian Carter said when her son announced he was running for President:  "President of what?", she inquired.

Soon, history would repeat itself.  Though my own mother is no longer with us, when I told a friend -- a woman who is old enough to be my mother -- I am running for President, she, too, replied by asking: "President of what?"

How can voters learn who the candidates are?  Other than the 'social media', such as Facebook and Twitter, there are two major sources.

First, voters can visit the website of the Federal Election Commission.  There they will find a list of the candidates, those who have a media presence and those who do not.  Through this site, they can determine who is running for President (or any other federal office).

Secondly, there is Project Votesmart, whose web address is:  http://www.votesmart.org

Among Votesmart's founding members are:  Former President Jimmy Carter, Former President Gerald Ford and George McGovern, a former U.S. Senator.

The Votesmart site not only offers a full listing of Presidential Candidates, which is broken down by state, but offers candidates a chance to post their positions on major issues.

Positions are posted through what is known as the "Political Courage Test". The test is designed to measure the candidate's response to one central question:

"Are you willing to tell citizens where you stand on the issues you may face if elected?"

Though our nation's founders felt such information was essential in our struggle to govern ourselves, many candidates are now heeding the advice of their party leaders not to provide such information.

The Political Courage Test offered by Project Votesmart is not only an opportunity for candidates to be recognized for their political courage, but an opportunity for voters to know who the candidates are and what they stand for before they cast their votes.

US Presidents: Delighted Leadership plays vital role

Author: Hadi U Zaman
Everyone will agree with this comment of time that the United States of America (USA) has been ruling the world unilaterally without facing any bar on implementation of his decision. Here, the decision of American Senate and Congress is a must to be realized in any place of the world. However this uni-power circle can be harmful for all of the world including American people also.
So, balance in US decision will ensure stability and balance over the world, it is believed by the conscious people no doubt. Chiefly, the decision making depends on empowered political party's commitment of US. Extremism is hatred for all. The theme mainly works as mandate achieving factor in all democratic decisions in all time in America. True picture of election is not altered there.

The list does not include any Acting Presidents under the Twenty-fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution.
There have been forty-three people sworn into office and forty-four presidencies, due to the fact that Grover Cleveland served two non-consecutive terms and is counted chronologically as both the twenty-second and the twenty-fourth president.
Of the 43 elected presidents of US, four died in office of natural causes include William Henry Harrison, Zachary Taylor, Warren G. Harding and Franklin D. Roosevelt.

The current president is Barack Obama who assumed the office on January 20, 2009. He is the first president of African American descent. He is also the first president born outside the Contiguous United States, having been born in Hawaii.
Under the U.S. Constitution, the President of the United States is the head of state and the head of government of the United States. As chief of the executive branch and head of the federal government as a whole, the presidency is the highest political office in the United States by influence and recognition.
The president is also the Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. armed forces. The president is indirectly elected to a four-year term by an Electoral College (or by the House of Representatives should the Electoral College fail to award an absolute majority of votes to any person).
Since the ratification of the Twenty-second Amendment to the United States Constitution in 1951, no person may be elected to the office of the president more than twice. Upon death, resignation, or removal from office of an incumbent president, the Vice President assumes the office.

Initially uninterested in politics, Taylor nonetheless ran as a Whig in the 1848 presidential election, defeating Lewis Cass and becoming the first President never to have held any previous elected office. He served from March 4, 1849 to July 9, 1850.
Millard Fillmore (January 7, 1800 – March 8, 1874) was the 13th President of the United States, serving from July 9, 1850 until March 4, 1853, and the last member of the Whig Party to hold that office. He successfully led the country through its greatest internal crises, the American Civil War, preserved the Union, and ended slavery. Reared in a poor family on the western frontier, he was mostly self-educated. He became a country lawyer, an Illinois state legislator, and a one-term member of the United States House of Representatives.

Guiteau on July 2, 1881, he did not die until September 19 of that year, at which time Arthur was sworn in as president, serving until March 4, 1885.
Stephen Grover Cleveland (March 18, 1837 – June 24, 1908) was the 22nd and 24th President of the United States. Cleveland is the only president to serve two non-consecutive terms from March 4, 1885 to March 4, 1889 and March 4, 1893 to March 4,1897 and therefore is the only individual to be counted twice in the numbering of the presidents.

Before becoming President during September 14,1901 March 4,1909 he held offices at the municipal, state, and federal level of government. Roosevelt's achievements as a naturalist, explorer, hunter, author, and soldier are as much a part of his fame as any office he held as a politician.
William Howard Taft (September 15, 1857 – March 8, 1930) was the 27th President of the United States and later the 10th Chief Justice of the United States. He is the only person to have served in both offices. He served from March 4, 1909 to March 4, 1913 as the US President.
Thomas Woodrow Wilson (December 28, 1856 – February 3, 1924) was the 28th President of the United States. A leader of the Progressive Movement, he served as President of Princeton University from 1902 to 1910, and then as the Governor of New Jersey from 1911 to 1913. He is the only U.S. President to hold a Ph.D. degree, which he obtained from Johns Hopkins University. He served from March 4, 1913 to March 4, 1921 as the US President.

Warren Gamaliel Harding (November 2, 1865 – August 2, 1923) was the 29th President of the United States, serving from March 4, 1921 until his death from a heart attack in August 1923. A Republican from Ohio, Harding was an influential newspaper publisher.

The Top Five U. S. Presidents

Author: Ryan Dube

Deciding on who the top ten Presidents are is certainly no easy task. Each of the U.S presidents of this country served their nation as best as they could. Each president was presented with different tasks and challenges depending on which time period and social condition they found themselves serving as president under.

The easiest President to choose as one of the top five Presidents is George Washington. As the first President of the United States, George Washington served from 1789-1797. Washington was one of the most significant contributors to the formation of our Constitution, and he remains as the only U.S. President to ever be voted for President unanimously by the people, not once, but for both of his terms. Although the people wanted Washington to serve another term in 1797, he refused, relinquishing the post and passing the torch to the next President. This special man's faith, patriotic beliefs and his valiant actions formed the very foundation of one of the greatest democratic nations on earth.

Abraham Lincoln, the President recognized by the stunning Lincoln Memorial, was president from 1861-1865. President Lincoln served during one of the most difficult times in our country - the Civil War. Lincoln's stance against the decision of Southern States to attempt to break from the union and his willingness to use force ended up maintaining the Union and keeping the country whole. History would show that, almost as significantly, his strong hand also ended slavery and helped free countless slaves from the clutches of a terrible fate in the South. One of the most famous and moving speeches of our Nation was Lincoln's Gettysburg Address at the dedication of the Soldiers' National Cemetery in Gettysburg, PA in 1863.

President Roosevelt was yet another President who led a troubled nation battling against an evil enemy during World War II. He served as president from 1933-1945, and he also helped carry the nation through to the end of the Great Depression in 1933. Roosevelt created the "New Deal," which served as a catalyst to pull the country out of its deep Depression. He also created the Social Security Act, which continues to offer all Americans peace of mind as they enter their older years and leave the workforce for retirement. Roosevelt's leadership came out clearly during each of these difficult periods for the country, and in the end it was his leadership that helped make the nation much more secure in the long run.

President Harry Truman was another wartime president that proved his worth in handling the end of WWII and its aftermath. He was president from 1945 through 1953. He made the difficult decision to order the atomic bombings against Japan at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. As the United States left WWII and entered into the Cold War, President Truman's leadership set the Nation on a strong and positive course into the future.

Woodrow Wilson, another wartime president, saw the United States through World War I. He served as president from 1913 through 1921. America was successful in WWI thanks to his skillful leadership and diplomacy, and his part in the Treaty of Versailles which ended the First World War Additionally he greatly improved the nation through the Federal Reserve Act, the Federal Trace Commission Act, and the Clayton Antitrust Act. As a testament to his life, Woodrow Wilson won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1919.

This list only includes five of the country's great presidents - there were surely many more men who proved themselves in the highest office of the nation. But these five are perfect examples of the type of person the people of this nation look for when they consider candidates for the United States Presidency. They are certainly very big shoes to fill.

Presidents' Day: America's Top Presidents

Author: James William Smith

Presidents' Day is a national holiday in America. It is a day of honor for all the men who have served in the office of President of the United States. As I researched how people rank the men that have held the highest office in this land, I was somewhat surprised to be challenged by the definition of the term "rank".
Indeed, I saw lists of the "hottest" Presidents of all time. This beauty list usually includes Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan, Thomas Jefferson, Franklin Pierce, and Teddy Roosevelt. I saw lists of the best Democratic Presidents of all time. Of course, there were lists of the best Republican Presidents as well. The list of great Democratic Presidents usually included Presidents of more recent vintage like Clinton and Kennedy. The Republican list almost always included Ronald Reagan.

Of course there are some people who just don't know enough about our history to rank any Presidents. In fact, when the question of which Presidents were the top three Republican Presidents in history was recently asked on Yahoo, a person called "Just an average chic" responded: "Are there any? Hmmm..... I draw a blank here".

I thought to myself after looking at that answer that sadly many children have been left behind in our educational system. If that is the knowledge base of the average person, we are a society in big trouble. (Note to the United States Congress, we need to get moving on that new "No Child Left Behind Act").

However, on this Presidents' Day, my definition of the top rated Presidents does not include being handsome or hot. They don't have to be either Republican or Democrat. They don’t have to be modern or popular. What they need to have done to make my list is to have achieved the most. They need to have made a difference. They need to be the best and they need to be recognized as the best over time. So I turned to the consensus ranking among scholars for the Presidents' ratings. Here is their consensus of the top three rated Presidents in American history.

This President said: "The nation which indulges to another habitual hatred, or an habitual fondness is in some degree a slave. It is a slave to its animosity or to its affection, either of which is sufficient to lead it astray from its duty and its interests." He created a country from nothing. First President Of The United States, "The Father Of The Country", George Washington is rated third by scholars.

This President said: "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself." Returning America to work after the Great Depression, The New Deal, Pearl Harbor, and World War 2, (FDR) Franklin Delano Roosevelt is rated second by the consensus of scholars.

Finally, it probably doesn’t really surprise you that Abraham Lincoln is the choice of scholars for the best President of the United States. His most famous speech was called "The Gettysburg Address". He was the President during the Civil War and was responsible for preserving the Union. His Emancipation Proclamation freed the slaves. He was the first President assassinated in office and a martyr for the country. The massive sculpture built as a memorial to Abraham Lincoln located in the National Mall in Washington D.C is certainly not overstated.

Of course, there were many other great Presidents of the United States. The list of the scholars top 10 Presidents goes on to include Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, Andrew Jackson, Woodrow Wilson, Harry Truman, James Polk, and Dwight Eisenhower. However, Abraham Lincoln is the choice for the best President of the United States and for the benefit of all the "just average chics" out there, he was in fact a Republican.

10 Infamous Presidents or World Leaders

Author: Wadzanai Nenzou

The true measure of a man is how he or she is remembered. Among the great people of history, a few of our world leaders will be remembered for their actions-not positive, but negative. Some will be remembered with horror for the things they caused to happen, the deaths that they caused to take place, the economic woes they caused, or for their vast and outstanding attack on human rights.

Others will be remembered for the wars they began or the questions surrounding their policies and leadership. We do not compare these lives or leadership, merely state that they are among those which are currently most questioned and most notorious of all leaders of men.

Our list of the some of the most notorious or infamous world leaders include:

1.Ayatollah Khomeini

Spent ten years as the leader of Iran and Islam. He was one of the most strict and difficult people to please, and according to reports, the punishment for disagreeing with him was swift and severe.

While conversing at the Fayzieah School on August 30, 1979, Khomeini stated: "Who's trying to bring corruption and destruction to our country in the name of democracy will suffer. They are worse than the Jews of Banu-Ghorizeh, and they should be hanged. We will torture them on the orders of God ..."

In 1988 Khomeini ordered that the court officials judge everyone that was charged guilty and kill them. Thousands died in prison while more than thirty thousand political activists against Khomeini also died. Khomeina died at aged 86 in 1989.

2. Idi Amin Dada

At one time a doctor, charged with healing the sick, Idi Amin along the way to being ruler of his country seemed to lose that small spark of humanity. Taking power from another regime in a military uprising, he violated human rights excessively, and was responsible for many thousands of killings, which historians number between 80 thousand and half a million. Never, until his death did he offer any kind of remorse for the starving, beating, murders or ethnic cleansing that he brought about.

3. Hitler

Who needs an explanation of why Hitler has been added to this list? Among the most cruel and horrific his deeds with the Jews and the holocaust will be forever imprinted into our memories. Responsible for several million deaths, Hitler goes down in history as a violently made man of genius IQ who wasn't seen as a threat to his country until far too late.

4. Pol Pot

Another in our array of the most notorious and the most prolific killers on the list. The leader of the Khmer Rouge as well as the Cambodian Prime minister until 1979 was responsible for the murder of more than 2 million people. All in all he was either directly or indirectly responsible for the death of more than one third of his country through mass executions and burials or slave labor of his people in the fields. He became best known for his "fields of murder."

5. Fidel Castro

Hailed as a wonderful leader and the savior of his people, Castro is also among the most notorious and the most hated and feared by some. Known for perpetrating arrests against those who even speak ill of him, he is also hailed by his people for turning around the economy and helping them to become more prosperous. Do you see him as a petty despot, or a hero? That would depend on which side of Castro you ended up on.

6. George Bush

Noted as one of the most restrictive of presidents in the United States, Bush was president in a time when the twin towers were torn from the ground and American's lost some innocence along with their freedom. Who was Bush? Did he really steal American freedom or were his reasons for war and erosion of American rights sufficient for the actions that he took?

7. Kim Jong Il

The leader of the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea has been in power for more than half of his life. Among those things he is most noted for, the deifying of himself and his father, the cruel and brutal treatment of political opponents, as well as his having changed the constitution of Korea to have himself named the "supreme leader." Sham trials and lengthy terms of hard labor are a staple diet of Korea under his rule. Speculation is rampant that he will step down later in September of 2010 in favor of his son.

8. Stalin

Known , for his brutality with detractors, and for his absolute refusal to hear a word bad about himself, he was also noted for his support of Lenin, though Lenin would as soon have not had Stalin to replace him. He was also known for his hatred and rising against Hitler, as well as his "scorched earth policy" to deal with the invaders. While he was not the leader many would have chosen Stalin remains virtually a legend and in fact, the structures that he put in place for government remained so until Gorbachev came to power in the mid 80s.

9.Charles Taylor

He was the president of Liberia from August 1997 to August 2003 when he resigned. He founded the National Patriotic Front of Liberia and launched an uprising to overthrow the Doe regime. This started the First Liberian Civil War. He became a prominent warlord. In 1997 he became president.During his presidency he is alleged to have supported the Sierra Leone rebels Revolutionary United Front (RUF) and giving them weapons. He also has been charged with war crimes by supporting RUF in their killing of thousands of civilians as well as torture. The RUF also recruited child soldiers and Charles Taylor was accused of helping them with this. He is currently in custody and undergoing a prolonged trial for his crimes against humanity and war crimes.

10. Saddam Hussein

Beginning in 1979 and lasting until 2003, Saddam Hussein lorded over Iraq with a fist of iron and killing all of those who opposed him. Touted and denigrated as the Hitler of modern times, Hussein drained swamps to starve out thousands who relied upon them for food, executed literally millions who opposed him and is also known for his ill treatment of the wives and daughters of those who opposed him. In some cases, even members of his own family disappeared without a trace. Using chemical weaponry against Iran, and even his own people. Hussein was executed in Iraq for his crimes against his country in 2006.

The above list is far from exhaustible there are many more infamous world leaders.
